FAQ

What type of organizations do you work with?

I work with 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations to identify grant opportunities and write proposals. I specialize in K-12 education, youth development, and environmental education. I work with both for-profit and not-for-profit organizations to develop value-packed content for nonprofit organizations and their supporters.

How/What do you charge for your services?

I offer retainer and package services. Packages are ideal when your organization has a crystal clear scope of work for a designated time. Retainer services are perfect for organizations that need ongoing support or that have a range of grant writing or communications projects. Retainer fees are paid at the start of each month to reserve time on my calendar to support your organization. Click here to see my grant services and pricing. Can we pay you on commission or when the grant is awarded?

The short answer is no. Interested in the longer answer? There are several reasons why I and most grant consultants do not write grants on commission. To name a few, this practice is expressly forbidden by the Grant Professionals Association Code of Conduct and by many grantmakers. A grant consultant’s services to help you identify and apply for funding is a pre-award expense. Grantmakers only want to fund the cost associated with the proposed program or project. In fact, grant funding can be denied if a grant consultant is paid in this manner.

What grant research tools do you use?

I use multiple grant databases, consult individual grantmaker websites, and review 990s to identify well-aligned grants for your organization and provide current information about grant opportunities. My goal is to identify funding opportunities where your application can be most competitive.
